I know someone famous!

I work with this really awesome lady named Marti, who teaches the teen GED class over at our teen leaning/adult ed center. Her daughter works as a buyer for Urban Outfitters, and Marti is always wearing something new and cool and hip and fun. She also has a whole closet full of new Urban Outfitters samples that she gives away to the kids in her class, who usually don't have a ton of money to buy clothes. So in addition to always being fashionable, Marti is a really, really sweet person.

When I went to see her yesterday, she told me the exciting news that she designed a t-shirt for Urban Outfitters! And that they are currently in stores! When she told me what it was, I laughed hysterically. I then immediately went to look up a photo online. What do you think?

Bahahaha. Pretty darn funny, right?! If you're interested in picking one up, you can find it here. Marti isn't getting any money for the shirts that sell, so this isn't a master plan to make her a millionaire. :) She said that, had she drawn the picture of the tiger, she would have received some cash. But she mostly just did it for the fun of it!

So, it's official. Marti is the most famous designer I've ever met!

I'm alive! I promise!

Hello, lovely readers!

I cannot believe that I haven't blogged since LAST Monday. Shame on me. Life has been caaaa-razy! My fabulous friend and coworker, Becky, has been offered, and has accepted, a wonderful new job over in administration. I am so sad to see her leave, but so happy that she is moving to such a great position! She will have some serious power in the school district, and it is a fabulous career move for her. Yay Becky!

The crazy part is that, for about the next month or so, I'll be covering both high schools as we go through the hiring process. The good thing? In the few days the job opening has been posted, around 30 people have applied! I know at least one girl who has applied for the position, and I love her and just think she would be fantastic. Fingers crossed! So...Becky's last day is Thursday of this week. I have been spending a lot of time over at her high school, meeting some people and just settling in. Busy busy busy!

Annnnyway ... since you last heard from me, I ... took Oscar to a dog Halloween costume party, got sick, got better, went for a few runs, went to see my little sister ride in a horse show, baked a pie, had an awesome squash meal (I'll post a recipe when we get it from our friends), went to Indianapolis for a shopping day, bought skinny jeans (yes! finally!), went to Whole Foods and got lots of yummy healthy food, and...went back to work. Whew, what a week!

I'll try not to be so sparse with my posts this week...I miss you!

Scarf swap and purple tights!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I don't know about you, but...the weekend just cannot get here quickly enough. It has been so cold and icky and drizzly out that all I want to do is curl up in bed with a good book!

I wanted to give a shout-out to Ashley from Joshley and the Charles. She was my partner in Katie's Scarf Swap...and look what she sent me! Such a fun, festive, autumn scarf. And so pretty, too! Please pardon the from-the-neck-down photo...I wasn't feeling so beautiful when I had this photo taken! Thanks so much for the scarf, Ashley!

Today may have been an icky, cold, rainy day, but I managed to perk myself up with some new purple tights. I wore them today with a tan corduroy skirt and a grey sweater. I LOVED my outfit today and felt so...fun! A few of you requested a photo of the purple tights, so...here they are.
Hmmm. Oscar seemed to want to get in on the purple tights action. Let's try that again...
What do you think? Are colored tights a yay or a nay in your book? I have to say that they really perked me up on this dreary day.

Have I mentioned before that my new MacBook Pro has a camera? I've had a few photo shoots with Oscar...he LOVES getting his picture taken. See?

Anyway, that's all for today! So glad you enjoyed the first edition of my (fantasy) Christmas list. Stay tuned for Part Two of my "Things you can wear" edition!

Shaina's Christmas List: Things You Can Wear Edition

Well, I realized that I haven't posted in several days and wanted to post something fun! So, I have decided to do a new series of posts: Shaina's Christmas List. My MIL asked me the other day what I want for Christmas...I of course replied that I love anything I can wear. Shirts, sweaters, jewelry, shoes, accessories...if I can wear it, I want it. Here is, um, just the start of my Christmas list. And, okay, parts of it may be more of a...fantasy list. But that's okay, right?

I am loving these Steve Madden grey slouchy boots...I haven't had a new pair of non-winter boots since Oscar chewed up a pair of nice black leather ones a couple of years ago. Thankfully, he doesn't chew up shoes anymore, so I think these would be safe from his pearly whites.
I saw this super duper long sweatshirt today at Old Navy. At first I thought it was kind of weird, but then...I realized how awesome and comfy it would be in the winter. Maybe with some leggings. And my big boots. Oh god. Did I just say leggings???

Lisa just bought this sweater, and raved about it. I love this pretty deep indigo color.

I tried this on today and LOVED IT. Old Navy has some of the cutest cheap stuff around, I swear.

I also still want all three sweaters I posted about here.

I really want a statement necklace, and I'm loving this one I found on Etsy.

Or this one from Anthropologie.

I have really been loving the skinny belt trend! This hot pink one is so much fun, and would bring a great little pop of color to a black outfit...don't you think?

I have seen this patent tortoise skinny belt all over the J. Crew catalogues as of late, and I have totally fallen in love. I even saw it at the outlet on Saturday, but sadly...didn't buy it. I still really, really want this belt.

I love animal print...but the hubster does not. However...these cute flats would be great for fall and winter! Plus, they would go great with the belt. :)

This fun yellow coat has been all over the blogs and the interwebs, and I have to add myself to the list of people who would love to call it their own! The bright yellow is fantastic.

I LOVE the beautiful blue color of this winter coat! No, I don't need ONE new coat, let alone two, but ... holy crap, is this gorgeous, or what??!

This is a great fall/winter blazer in SUCH a pretty color. J. Crew calls it "iris." I call it...pretty dark purpley-aubergine-y. Okay, maybe Iris isn't so bad.

I have been dying for a turtleneck sweater dress for the past 2 winters...and I still don't own one. This looks so simple, pretty and comfy! I prefer it in black but posted in grey so that you could see the details.

I don't care for most of the flower t-shirts around these days, but...I love this simple v-neck from J. Crew. Great for weekends and casual Fridays.

Pretty pretty pretty! I love this ruffle-y J. Crew cami in deep rose. This would look beautiful under a cardigan with a skinny belt.

Pretty! Grey! Ruffles! I realize that ruffles will probably go out of style soon, but I can't help it...I love the fun, frilly, feminine details of this gorgeous J. Crew shirt.

Love, love, LOVE this simple cashmere cardigan from J. Crew in sweet guava. And, in conclusion, I will also accept pretty much ANYTHING from J. Crew. Please and thank you.
I've been wanting a pair of skinny jeans...even though I'm not at my thinnest, every time I try them on, I feel like a million bucks. Just haven't bought any yet - still looking for the right pair. I have heard great things about these Born to Fit jeans from The Gap.
Wow...what a fun list of pretty things! I hope you have enjoyed! :)

Fantasy Wish List

I realized that yesterday's post was sooooo boring. In fact, I basically just said the same thing I wrote on Friday. I apologize. To make up for it, I have decided to post my fantasy wish list for fall. Putting this together was LOADS of fun...and while it may be a fantasy list, please note that I do still want each and every item on this list and, if you contact me, I will provide my sizes, mailing address, and colors of choice. :) With our one year annivesary, Christmas, and my birthday all coming up in a row, I figure I'm bound to end up with at least one of these things...right??? Right???? :)

Item number 1: a Greyhound from a Greyhound rescue organization. I would love for Oscar to have a little (big?) friend, and I LOVE Greyhounds. This one in particular looks like a cutie. You can read more about Greyhound rescue here.

Item number 2: A diamond Tiffany Key pendant. I realize that these are kind of trendy right now, but I also think they are absolutely gorgeous. The Tiffany Fleur de Lis pendant is a little steep at $2,975, so...
...I guess I'll settle for Item number 3, the Tiffany Crown Key pendant in silver, which is much more reasonably priced at $225. Je t'aime.
Ahhhh. Item number 4. The beautiful Hobo Bodega Bay bag in Mocha. You can call this perfect fall bag your own for a mere $388.
Item number 5: The perfect fall boot, brought to you by J. Crew. Naturally. They had some similar boots last year that I lusted after. These are called the Nottingham tall leather high-heel boots, which I think look perfect in "pony brown" for $325.
Ahhhh sweaters. Don't you just love sweater weather? It is my my favorite! Per usual, I am in love with several Anthropologie sweaters this year. Item number 6 is called the High Speed Cardigan, $128.
Item number 7, also Anthropologie, is so fun and swingy looking. I bet it would look great over some skinny jeans and my Item number 5 perfect boots. This is the Puckered and Pleated Cardigan, $128.
And my last dream sweater from Anthropologie, Item number 8, is the Gentle Current Cardigan, $88.
Item number 9: An iPhone! I really, really want one. But alas, until Verizon comes out with the iPhone, I will continue to lust after everyone else's.
Item number 10: A Macbook Pro. My four year-old Powerbook is seriously on the fritz, and I'm not sure how much longer it's going to last. I am definitely going to need a new computer before Matt heads to the desert, so I will be able to communicate with him whenever. Aaaaand last but not least, Item number 11. A Volvo XC90. Hey, I said this was a fantasy wish list, right??! I love these and think it would make a fantastic Mom-mobile when the time comes...don't you? I, however, would like it in silver. :)
So, there you have it! My fantasy wish list for fall. I would also like to add a few pairs of Louboutins and pretty much everything from J. Crew, which I absolutely cannot afford at all. Is it just me, or does J. Crew get more and more expensive every year?

Anyway - this was a ton of fun. What's on your fantasy wish list?
