Remember Me???!

Hello, my wonderful bloggy friends!

Sorry I have been so absent lately. I have been busy, PLUS my computer pretty much completely died. Every time I turned it on, it would fizzle for a few minutes before shutting off again. OR it would stay on for a little while but then get these crazy vertical lines all over it before slowly fading into nothingness. Needless to say, it was a bummer. Especially when I would think it was cooperating, and open Blogger, and start a blog post, only for the whole thing to immediately die once I had all necessary windows open. FAIL.

Today is Yom Kippur. For the first time in several years, I chose to observe. Well, kind of. Due to all the changes in my life over the past 12 months, and those that will arrive in the coming year, I felt like I wanted to take today to, you know, reflect and think and all that fun stuff. I woke up and made the decision to fast, along with go to temple - something I haven't done in several years. I looked up the services at the IU Hillel Center and decided to go to the "Alternative Service" this morning. I arrived, only to discover that "alternative" meant "a nature walk to Lake Griffy to talk about god and your feelings." Leave it to Bloomington to turn even the loveliest of Jewish holidays into a crazy hippie fest.

Walking around a lake while discussing my feelings didn't seem like that great of an idea to me, so I went back to work. And decided that fasting is overrated - instead of reflecting and whatnot, I instead spent much of the day thinking about how hungry I was. FAIL.

I came home early after feeling, you know, HUNGRY, and curled up in bed for a few. Matt came home from class shortly thereafter and said he had to walk over to the leasing center to pick up a package. He came back, and asked if I wanted to know what the package was. I said SURE! Because I thought it was really weird he had a package coming at all - he never spends money, or orders anything, or gets packages, unless they are books for school. This box was a little too big to be a book, though.

He told me to sit on the couch, close my eyes, and hold out my hands. I did, and he placed a big-ish box in my arms. I opened my eyes, and........

IT WAS A BRAND NEW MACBOOK PRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My amazing husband bought me the new computer I have been lusting after!!!!!!!!!! I cannot even believe it. I was so confused, and asked him why he bought it for me...he of course replied that I needed a new one, because my old Powerbook hasn't been working for awhile.

I am so grateful for this amazing gift, and so relieved because I have been worrying about getting a new computer before Matt deploys. So much weight lifted now!

SO. Expect to see me in your Google Reader again! And expect to see my comments on your blogs again!!! It's been awhile, but I'M BACK!!!

What a nice surprise!

Whenever I would give something up for Lent (as a child) I felt like I was never doing it for the right reasons. I must not be a very spiritual person. I just can't figure it out!

I was thinking of you today and wondering where in the hay you have been. YAY! I am so glad you are back.

What a sweet, sweet husband that Matt is. Perhaps I will give him Mr. Molly Lou's number to give some pointers to!

Sorry your holiday observations didn't go as planned. Fasting is way overrated.

Whoa congrats! That is awesome on the Macbook-

Is it bad that I am more excited to learn that you are Jewish than the fact that you got a new Mac? I am sorry the fasting failed- I have never tried to fast- ever. I just think I would be one crabby patty because I am hungry!

What a nice surprise! And I SUCK at fasting. I just get cranky and mean and completely lose focus of what I'm fasting for! Oh well!
