Things I don't understand

High School Musical.

Can anyone enlighten me?

I can't help.

The acting is terrible and the plots insipidly shallow and mindless...and that's what I love about it :-)

I think the enjoyment I get from it is purely a guilty pleasure - I know I have no business watching it, so it makes it fun. If I was a teenager, though, I would despise it.

I'd like to add the Jonas Brothers to the list...

Umm... I love and own all 3. I went to see HSM3 opening night in the theater with my best friend. I know I'm 23, but I love Disney cheesiness and innocence, musicals, and Zac Efron... just rent any of them and you'll see. I think 3 is the best.

Persons over the age of 20 need not apply. That's all I can think of.

A few friends of mine, over the age of 20, love the musical. I, personally, don't get it.

Would you like me to bring it with me to Indiana next week? :)

Umm, I have to say I am with Katie. My younger sister (who is 21) (I am 24) introduced me to the first movie last year while we were in Spain. I think my love for the movie may have been influenced by the fact that they were speaking English . . . but I do enjoy the music. Cheesy, I know. But still fun.

I seriously don't get it. My niece asked for a High School Musical doll for Christmas last year. I went to the store and was overwhelmed. After consulting with my sister, I discovered she wanted the dressy version of Sharpay. Sharpay? Is that even a name? Charpei like the dog breed would have been cuter. ugh

The intended audience is kids of course, not adults. It's like a modern day watered down Disney version of Grease, but for kids.

Kenny Ortega who choreographed for Michael Jackson(Thriller, Beat It), Dirty Dancing, Madonna, etc... choreographed all three of these movies. Anything he touches turns to gold.

The movies weren't meant for teens, it was for tweens...and the tweens love it. Teens, not so much.

It's popularity is not for us to understand apparently. (I'm the parent of 2 such tweenies)

Same with the Jonas Brothers. Not meant for adults. You were a kid once...who did you go ga gah over? Well this is the same story, just a different generation...It's not as mind numbing as some of the stuff that I am forced to sit through....Ohhhhhh....
